Arambagh Krira Chakra reached semis of the Federation Cup football tournament upsetting defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club 2(4)-2(5) in a sudden death at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
The first quarterfinal of the league was locked 2-2 in the stipulated 90-minute and also in the 30-minute extra time, UNB reports.
In the penalty shootout, Issa Yousif, Shihab, Bhashani, Kester Akon converted from the spot for Arambagh while Yoko Samnik missed.
Emeka, Wedson, Yasin, and Landing converted the spot kick correctly for Sk Jamal while Enamul and Kesto Kumar missed.
Earlier, in the stipulated time, defender Linkon put Sk Jamal ahead in the 42nd minute by a right footer, fed by Wedson from the right flank that slipped past the defence, 1-0.
Wedson Anselme doubled the lead in the stopgap time of the first half, blasting the ball into the middle of the net keeping control over a through pass of midfielder Anamaul Huq Sharif, 2-0.
Cameroonian midfielder Yaok Samnik reduced the margin for Arambagh in the 61st minute by a strong header from the middle of the box, was a curved neat cross of the quick-footed left winger Jafar Iqbal, 2-1.
Jamal’s woe came in the 69th minute as Kester Akon leveled the margin sending the ball into the far post net at the top of the Jamal box utilising a through pass of Yoko Samnik, 2-2.

With the scoreline locked in a 2-2 tie the match moved to the 30-minute extra time and also in the shootout as both teams failed to change the scoreline in the extra time.
