Sheikh Russel seek to bounce back

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra so far remain winless in their Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) campaign, they suffered successive defeats against the underdogs like Uttar Baridhara Club and even Rahmatganj.


However, with the high hopes to make things right and break the losing streak, Sheikh Russel will take on Feni Soccer Club on Saturday in the BPL round four at Mymensingh. The match is scheduled to be held at 4.00 pm in front of the countless local spectators at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium.


Sheikh Russel coach Maruful Haque however is still optimistic over their bounce back in BPL. Maruful Haque told Daily Sun on Friday after their practice session, “We have built a title favorite team for 22-game BPL. I have lost nothing yet because still we have 19 games in hand. A single win can change everything and the rhythm of spirit. We are still on track.”


“We are focusing on the finishing because we rely on our big occasion finishers like Ameli, Mithun, Rony and Komol. Shakwat Rony will possibly join tomorrow (today) in absence of Paul Emile. Fikru Teferra also missed the first two matches but he returned in last match. We are looking forward to our next game against Feni Soccer Club to bring the first glory in BPL this year,” he added.


Soccer Club Feni are in a good tune after the 3rd round that finished at M A Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday last, collecting 2 points.


Soccer Club Feni featured two draws and one loss with a goalless match against Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd in theot 3rd match, after conceding a solitary goal defeat against Dhaka Abahani in the 2nd match while played a 1-1 draw against Brothers Union Ltd in the 1st round to open the account.


On the other hand, former champions Sheikh Russel KC are yet to collect any point from their last three rounds. Sk Russel conceded three successive defeats with solitary goal against Uttar Baridhara Club in the first match, then a 2-0 against Rahmatgonj MFS and finally a 2-1 against Chittagong Abahani.


In the remaining 4th round matches, Mohammedan SC will meet Team BJMC on August 7; joint league leader Dhaka Abahani will play Muktijoddha SKC on August 8; Arambagh KS will meet Brothers Union on August 9 and Uttar Baridhara will face Rahmatganj MFS on August 10. All the matches will begin at 4 pm.


The Dhaka-leg matches of BPL (Round 6) will be held from August 18-20 before an 18-day recess for conducting the national camp for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers play-off between Bangladesh and Bhutan and as well as for AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers billed August 25 to September 5 in Dhaka.


After the third round of BPL, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC, Chittagong Abahani and Dhaka Abahani Ltd are leading the points table collecting seven points.
