IUB organises Career Symposium on Public Health

A Career Symposium titled “Public Health as a Career Today and Tomorrow” was organised by the School of Public Health of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) on Friday, December 2, 2016.


Vice Chancellor and the Dean of the School of Public Health, Prof. M Omar Rahman inaugurated the Symposium and delivered the welcome speech.


Dr. Quamrun Nahar, Senior Director, ICDDR,B, Abdullah Al Mahmud, Research Coordinator, ICDDR,B, Dr. Fariha Haseen, Assistant Professor, BSMMU, Dr. Sheikh Shahed Rahman, National Nutrition Coordinator, Health Unit, CARE Bangladesh, Dr. Mohibur Hossain Nirob, Resident Doctor (Oncology), BSMMU & Founder of Platform Group, and Dr. M. Tasdik Hasan, Research Investigator, ICDDR,B were present as invited Speakers in the event.


The event was attended by over 100 students and interested viewers, mostly from outside of IUB. A lively question and answer session took place after the speeches. A poster competition was also held in the end and winners were awarded with crests.


Nusrat Jahan and Asif Mahbub Swapnil, students of Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka became the winners of the competition.


Dr. Dipak Kumar Mitra, Head of the Department, School of Public Health conveyed the vote of thanks and handed over the crests to the winners of the poster competition and to the honorable Guest Speakers. Dr. Nafisa Huq, Senior Lecturer, School of Public Health was the anchor of the Symposium.
