Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on Wednesday said a law will be formulated for the appointment of judges.
“I also want transparency in the appointment of judges. However, it’ll take some time,” he told a discussion at the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) auditorium today.
Cultural organisation ‘Deshiyo Sangskritik Parishad’ arranged the programme titled ‘importance of mother tongue and local culture in unity, development, and establishment of law’.
The Chief Justice said he had talks with Law Minister Anisul Huq recently about the formulation of the law for the appointment of judges.
He also regretted the failure to introduce Bangla in the judiciary.
Bangladesh Bar Council Vice-chairman Abdul Baset Majumdar, SCBA president Yusuf Hossain Humayun and its secretary Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan, among others, spoke at the programme.
