Supreme Court bars use of 'Scale' as party symbol in election

The Supreme Court (SC) decided to ask the Election Commission not to allocate ‘Scale’ as election symbol to any political party.

The decision came up after a full court meeting of the SC in the presence of Chief Justice SK Sinha and the judges of the High Court division on Monday, said HC division’s additional registrar (law and admin) Sabbir Foyez while talking to reporters on Tuesday.

‘Scale’, however, is being used for long as the monogram of SC as the symbol of justice.

Sabbir also added that a letter would be sent to the EC on Wednesday requesting it not to allocate ‘Scale’ as the election symbol to any political party.
