Engine swerves halts service in Ctg rail station

A train engine swerved off the track onto a platform at Chittagong Railway Station on early Wednesday during replacement of compartments and halted service.
Additional chief engineer (Bridges) Mafizur Rahman said the engine along with a compartment veered off the track and got onto the platform no-4 of the station around 5:30am while replacing compartments of the ‘Mohanagar Provati’ train bound for Dhaka taking those from Pahartali dock.
No one was injured during the incident there not being any passenger on the platform.
The floor, glasses and the engine were damaged due to the crash, engineer Mafizur said.
The train which was scheduled to leave the station for Dhaka around 7.00am left the station 50 minutes later.
A four-member committee was formed to investigate the reason behind the incident.
