In a police action in Narayanganj city at least ten BNP activists have been injured on Thursday afternoon.
Police also arrested four persons including Jubo Dal leader and councilor Maksudul Alam Khandaker Khorshed at the time.
The police took the action on BNP men while a procession was parading towards BNP district office at DIT commercial area marking ‘Democracy Killing Day’ on January 5.
As part of the party programme, Narayanganj BNP brought out the procession to protest the 10th parliament election which was held on January 5, 2014. BNP boycotted the election.
When the BNP procession reached the DIT road of the city on Thursday, police took away the banner. Police also beat up BNP activists.
BNP city unit general secretary ATM Kamal said Jubo Dal leaders brought out a procession at Mandalparapool area in the afternoon.
He also said police intercepted the procession on the way to BNP district office at DIT commercial area.
"At that time BNP activists scuffle with police. Police charged batton to disperse the processionists. In the police action, at least 10 persons were injured," Kamal said.
He also said police also arrested Juba Dal convener and councilor of ward no 3 of city corporation Maksudul Alam Khandaker Khorshed and three others.
