Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said today steps would be taken over the matter of error in school textbooks after submission of the probe report.
The education minister made this remark while addressing a press conference at his office in the Secretariat this morning.
The minister said ‘The government cannot avoid the responsibility regarding the matter. The investigation is underway and we will take proper measure after getting report of probe committee.’
Yesterday, two NCTB officers were made officials on special duty (OSD) following preliminary investigation by education ministry.
On January 1, NCTB distributed around 36.21 crore textbooks free of cost among 4.26 crore primary and secondary level students.
But the students and their guardians were irked by mistakes in the textbooks where several contents were also distorted.
According to students and guardians, the Class III Hindu religious studies book contains a wrong moral instruction on its back page. It reads ‘Do not heart anybody’, whereas it should have been ‘Do not hurt anybody’.
