Girl rescued from window cornice of high rise building in Adabar

Firefighters rescued a teenage female domestic help from a window cornice of a 9th floor apartment at Japan Garden City in the city's Adabar area early Tuesday.

The rescued girl was identified as Amena, who was working as the domestic help at a flat on the 9th floor of the 16-storey building.

Police said Amena, 14, climbed down to the window cornice around 11:45 pm on Monday when she was alone at the flat as its residents went outside locking the main door, reports UNB.

When the flat inmates returned at night, they found Amena on the window cornice.

Being informed, a team from Mohammadpur fire station, led by station officer Abu Bakar Zaman, went to spot and rescued the girl, said officer-in-charge of Adabar Police Station Shahinur Rahman.

Quoting the domestic help, he also said employers used to torture her. Amena is now under our custody.

We're investigating the alleged torture on her,” the OC said, adding that she will be handed over to her family members.
