Woman stabbed dead ‘by nephew’ in Jamalpur

A woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her nephew in Satpoa area of Sarishabari upazila on Wednesday night over land dispute, UNB reports.

The deceased was identified as Lily AKhter, 32, an Italian expatriate and wife of Emon Ali, resident of Char Sarishabari village in Satpoa union of the upazila.

Family Sources said Lily bought a piece of land from her brother Kotu Miah in 2009.

Later her nephew Sumon exerted pressure on her to give back the land. After seven years, Lily returned from Italy and went to her father’s house in the afternoon.

Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Sarishabari Police Station, said Sumon stabbed Lily when she went out from the house in the evening, leaving her critically injured.

She was rushed to Sarishabari Health Complex where doctors declared her dead.
