‘The Campeones’ wins Brandwitz 2016 championship

IBA Communication Club of Dhaka University announced the champion and the Runners Up of “Brandwitz 2016” in a grand finale on January 31, 2017 at capital’s Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel.

 

The Campeones, consisting of Tausif Ahmed, Toufiqul Islam Mannan Shourov, Nabid Hassan and Tasmia Tabassum, from IBA, University of Dhaka was announced as the Champion of Brandwitz 2016.

 

Challenge Accepted, consisting of Ahmed Tashfiq Rafsan, Ayman Rahman, Abreshmee Adeeba Haque and Sami Tahsin, from IBA, University of Dhaka was announced as the 1st Runner up and Team Potter, consisting of Taosif Amin Khan, Mastura Tasnim, Tanzir Islam and Rakib Ibnay Hossain, from IBA, University of Dhaka was announced as the 2nd Runner up of Brandwitz 2016.

 

Md. Shahriar Alam, MP, State Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs presided over as Chief Guest along with Prof Dr AKM Saiful Majid, the Director of Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka.

 

The guests along with high officials of Noman Group handed over the prizes to the Champion and Runners Up teams.

 

The judge panel of the Finale included, Faruque Hassan, Senior Vice President, BGMEA and Managing Director, Giant Apparels Ltd., Hasan Shibli, Managing Director and CEO, Base Textiles Limited and Shariful Islam, Founder, Bangladesh Brand Forum.

 

The theme for the final round is focused on branding the Ready Made Garments Made in Bangladesh to prospective global buyers.

The winning team of Brandwitz 2016 received BDT 250,000, with the first and second runners-up bagged BDT 150,000 and BDT 100,000 respectively.

 

Encouraging the participants of Brandwitz to join the RMG sector, Md. Shahriar Alam said, “Brandwitz has done a wonderful of job of showcasing the complexities of the RMG sector to the participating students. I hope the competition not only helped you polish your business skills, but also provided a necessary introduction to the RMG industry of our country.”

 

Prof Dr AKM Saiful Majid said, “It has been seen that young professionals are not appealed towards joining apparel sector of ours. Through this competition we tried to shed some light upon such issues as to how this industry can be further flourished with more and more bright young minds leading the apparel sector into the future.”

 

He also said, “The vision of IBA Communication Club extends beyond the boundaries of Bangladesh, into international territory to truly make Brandwitz a globally-acclaimed competition.”

 

Mohammad Abdullah Zaber, Director, Noman Group, said, “The future corporates from the renowned public and private business Schools and the RMG sector of our country together can bring upon a brighter and fully-employed golden Bangladesh, leading the world in the RMG industry.”

 

It was the 8th year of Bandwitz which is the flagship competition of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University (DU) and is widely known as the ushering and most prestigious business competition of Bangladesh. It is the platform where a large number of business students from universities across Bangladesh get opportunities to exchange creative ideas by participating in series of events.

 

The competition started off with road-shows which were conducted in 20 universities of Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi and Khulna between November 14th and 21st 2016.

 

Later the potential students were invited and given the opportunity to be part of the knowledge sharing platform. The ultimate competition started with an online submission round where students were given a case to solve.

 

42 teams from 279 submissions were selected for the second round. The second round of Brandwitz was a case solving and presentation round in which 24 teams were eliminated. In the third round, the remaining 18 teams were asked to design a branding or plan strategy for organizations that are struggling in coping up with the new market demands.

 

Finally 6 teams from IBA, Dhaka University, Jahangir Nagar University and North South University were selected, after a scrutinised procedure, who were given the opportunity to participate in the Grand Finale of Brandwitz 2016 which was held at Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel.
