NSU holds “CIVIL FEST 2017”

The annual two-day long festival, titled “CIVIL FEST 2017” organised by the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department (CEED) of North South University (NSU) came to a memorable conclusion on Tuesday (February 7).  The program continued from February 6 to February 7.


Focusing on the unexpected problems originating from the lack of proper planning and other obstacles faced by city dwellers in Dhaka, the main objective of the festival was set to have interactive communication and understanding between the maestro and experienced experts and leaders and the emerging future engineers (students) to enhance their skills, knowledge and abilities as well as to know their roles for the future of Bangladesh.


Terming the engineers as the bridge between science and society, the festival left a message determining the role of the civil engineers in planning, designing, building and ensuring a sustainable future.


Road of Transport and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader thanked the NSU’s respective management, students, young engineers and officials for organising a pleasant and colorful event on an important issue. He attended the festival as the chief guest.


Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), NSU was present as the Guest of Honor. Members of the Board of Trustees (BOT) Benajir Ahmed, MA kashem, MA Hashem, Rehana Rahman, Yasmin Kamal and Treasurer of NSU Dr Gour Gobinda Goswami, were present as Special Guests at the program. Prof. Dr Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, NSU chaired the session.


The first program of the Civil Fest (DAY 1), titled “BSRM-Round Table Discussion: Role of Civil Engineers towards Building a Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure System” of CIVIL FEST 2017 was Moderated by Professor Md. Mazharul Hoque, Dean of Civil Engineering, BUET. Cultural Program of CIVIL FEST 2017 succeeded the “BSRM-Round Table Discussion” program at 5pm. For the better understanding of the students on the importance of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the roles it plays for modern civilization, the CIVIL FEST 2017 held “CIVIL ENGINEERING STUDENTS CONFERENCE-2017” program which began at 10 am. The Grand Closing and Prize Giving Ceremony and the Cultural Program of CIVIL FEST 2017 commenced from 5pm on 7th February 2017. The two-day long program also included CAD competition, Poster and Project presentations, Paper Bridge Display and Science Olympiad for School and College Students, etc.
