A Dhaka court on Sunday sent Bangladesh cricketer Arafat Sunny to jail and denied his bail in a case filed for torturing Nasrin Sultana, who claimed to be Sunny’s wife.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansari passed the order after the investigation officer (IO) of the case produced Sunny before the court.
On February 2, the case was filed by Nasrin Sultana under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
On December 4, 2014, the 23-year-old woman alleged that Sunny and his mother Nargis Akhter demanded money six months after Sunny and Nasrin got married.
Earlier, Nasrin filed two cases against Sunny for threatening her online and demanding dowry.
Sunny was arrested on January 22 in connection with the case.
