Bangladesh Ambassador to Brazil Mijarul Quayes hospitalised in Brasilia

Bangladesh Ambassador to Brazil Mohamed Mijarul Quayes has been hospitalised in Brazil with respiratory problems and other complexities, said an official at the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka.

Quayes who had also served as a Foreign Secretary in the Ministry during 2009-12 has been kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Brasilia, reports UNB.

One of his former colleagues also shared a post on Facebook, saying Ambassador Quayes has fallen seriously ill (likely to be relapse of his earlier emergency when he was the Foreign Secretary) and currently in ICU and requested all well-wishers to pray for his early recovery.

Quayes served as Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and pursued ambassadorship in the Maldives and Russia. He also served in Bangladesh missions in Tokyo, Singapore and Geneva in various capacities.
