Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader on Thursday said the government has no intention to send BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to jail.
"Punishing or acquitting anyone is not our business; it is the affair of the court," he said.
The minister came up with the statements while talking to journalists after inaugurating a beautification project in front of Radisson Hotel on Airport Road in the capital.
Earlier, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir commented that no election would be held in the country, if Khaleda Zia was sent to jail.
In response of that statement Quader said, "Time and tide wait for none. The Constitution and polls will not wait for none too."
