World Leadership Federation (WLF), a global platform based in India, has nominated Iqbalur Rahim, whip of the Bangladesh Parliament, for WLF Award-2017 for his outstanding contribution to social services.
The WLF has decided to give him the award in social innovator category and the award will be handed over to Iqbalur Rahim on February 23 at a gala event in Dubai.
The federation has choose Iqbalur Rahim, a ruling Bangladesh Awami League lawmaker elected from Dinajpur, for constructing and maintaining a shelter house “Manab Palli” for transsexuals under his constituency.
The shelter house was built by the Ashrayan-2 project, run by the Prime Minister’s Office, which is working to alleviate the poverty of the landless and homeless families of the country by focusing on human resources development.
The lawmaker also established an old home, which is being maintained smoothly.
Talking to newsmen at his office in parliament, Iqbalur Rahim said the award would inspire him more to work for mankind as well as the common people of Dinajpur. “It is a pride for me as well as Bangladesh,” he said.
According to the WLF, the “Leadership Summit and Awards—Middle East(2016-2017)” would be held in Dubai where leaders will not just be recognized and awarded, but they will also have the opportunity of sharing views on different aspects of leadership.
