36 Bangladeshis held in Benapole while returning from India

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested 36 people while entering Bangladesh from India through Daulatpur border point in Benapole on Friday.

The arrestees include seven women, six children and 23 men, hailing from different parts of Bangladesh.

Tipped off, a team of the border guards conducted a drive in the area and arrested them while trying to enter Bangladesh in the morning without valid documents, said Subedar Abdus Samad of Daulatpur BGB camp.

They had been living in India illegally for long, he said.

Later, the arrestees were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, said Manir Hossain, sub-inspector of Benapole Port Police Station.
