BNP chairperson’s adviser Kazi Anwar dies

BNP chairperson's advisory council member and former MP Kazi Anwar Hossain died at a city hospital on Friday. He was 63.


Anwar who had been undergoing treatment for cancer at Apollo Hospitals Ltd breathed his last at noon, said Krishak Dal joint general secretary Takdir Hossain Jasim.


He is survived by wife, a son, two daughters and a host of relatives and followers to mourn his death.


Jasim said Anwar's body was taken to his Gulshan residence from the hospital.


It will be to taken to his ancestral home at Brahmanbaria's Nabinagar upazila by road on Saturday morning.


He will be buried at his family graveyard at Jasatua on Saturday afternoon after two namaj-e-janzas at Nabinagar High School ground and Jasatua Madrasah ground.


Anwar, who joined BNP from Jatiya Party, was elected MP from Nabinagar constituency in 1986, 1988, 1991 and 2001.


Meanwhile, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock at his death.


In separate condolence messages, they prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed their profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
