After fourteen years, Mahila Awami League has got new leadership through its national council on Saturday.
Shafiya Khatun and Mahmuda Begum were made president and secretary of Mahila Awami League respectively following the council held at the capital's Krishibid Institution.
Bangladesh Awami League (BAL) General Secretary and Minister for Road, Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader announced the names of the newly elected president and secretary.
Names of Shafiya and Mahmuda were proposed for president and secretary posts respectively in the second session of the council and they were elected consequently.
Besides, Shahida Akhter Diptee and Shabnam Sheela were elected as president and secretary of Dhaka City North unit of Mahila Awami League while Sabera Begum and Nargis Rahman were elected as president and secretary of Dhaka City South unit of Mahila Awami League.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the council as the chief guest in the morning.
