Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud in Dhaka on Saturday said the BNP-led 20-party alliance has been patronizing militancy to serve its ulterior motive.
BNP always encouraged militancy and they killed hundreds of people and AL leaders and workers in the past, he said while addressing a press conference at AL President Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi political office in the capital.
The press conference was convened following the remark of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir who accused the Awami League of establishing militancy in Bangladesh.
Hasan said BNP is now branded as a militant organization at far and wide. The objective of BNP, he said, was to turn Bangladesh into a militant country.
AL Organizing Secretary Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Relief and Social Welfare Affairs Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam Amin, Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Bipolp Barua, central committee members Anwar Hossain and Marufa Akther Popy, among others, were present.
