Seventeen Bangladeshi nationals who had been trafficked out to India were rescued while they were entering the country through Daulatpur border point early Tuesday, reports UNB.
The 17 people, including six women and three children, hail from Narail and Gopalganj districts.
Nayek Subedar Nurul Islam, Daulatpur camp commander of 21 BGB battalion, said a team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), acting on a tip-off, conducted a drive in the area and rescued the 17 people.
They were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
Sensing BGB's presence, the human traffickers fled the scene.
