Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday administered the oath of office of newly-elected Kushtia District Council chairman Rabiul Islam at her office in the capital.
"He (Islam) was sworn in at a simple ceremony with the prime minister administering his oath of office," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the event.
Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Division Secretary Abdul Malek conducted the function, joined as well by Local Government Minister Engineer Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain and PM's Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury.
The elections to 59 district councils were held on December 28, but the polls in Kushtia and Bogra districts were postponed due to the legal complications in nomination process. The oath-taking ceremony of 59 district council chairmen was held on January 11 at the PMO.
