Hasan accuses Khaleda of patronizing militancy

Awami League spokesperson says, “She (Begum Zia) always encouraged militancy and they are carrying out subversive activities across the country.”

Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud today accused BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia of patronizing militancy as a nationwide anti-militancy crackdown is underway.

“She (Begum Zia) always encouraged militancy and they are carrying out subversive activities across the country,” he told a discussion to mark the 98th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Shilpokola Academy on Thursday.

BNP-Jamaat-led 20-party alliance, he said, appears more active in creating unstable situation particularly when the country progresses smoothly.

Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote organized the program with Jote president actor Faruk Khan in the chair.

A former permanent representative of Bangladesh to United Nations Dr. Abdul Momen addressed the function as the special guest while jote general secretary Falguni Ahmed, vice president Freedom Fighter Foyezuddin Mia, actors Khalequzzaman, Dilara Yeasmin and Dany Sidaq, among others, took part in the discussion.

Mahmud described BNP as a party “habituated to conspiracies” and said, “it has still been hatching plots to expose the government to an awkward position”. “The mass people should be vocal against the conspiracy of BNP," he said. A cake was cut later to mark the Bangabandhu’s birthday.
