Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal and middle order batsman Sabbir Rahman consolidated the innings with their 3rd wicket stand that crossed 50 as Bangladesh reached 88 for 2 in 27 overs during the post-lunch session of day-5 of the second and last Test of Joy Bangla Cup series at P Sara Oval, Colombo on Sunday.


Tamim Iqbal and Sabbir Rahman were on batting, scoring 66 off 98 balls and 29 runs off 52 balls respectively.


Earlier, Bangladesh reached 38/2 at launch in pursuit of 191 runs after they bowled out Sri Lanka for 319 runs in their second innings.


Bangladesh lost two early wickets, after scoring 22 runs in 8 overs.


Facing 15 overs before the interval, the tourists lost Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes in the same over of Sri Lankan captain Herath.


Sri Lanka’s tailenders put up a commendable fight to extend the team’s lead and set Bangladesh a target of 191 runs to win.


 Playing their 100thTest at Colombo’s P. Sara Oval, Bangladesh have a fair chance to level the series.


Sri Lanka won the first Test at Galle.


Earlier, on the fifth day of second cricket test against Bangladesh at Colombo, Sri Lanka resumed their second inning at the overnight score of 268 for 8.


 They resumed the day with a lead of 139 runs with two wickets in hand.
