Mosaddek falls, Bangladesh need 2 to win

Bangladesh are inching ever closer to what would be a historic win against Sri Lanaka on day 5 of the ongoing 2nd and last match of the Joy Bangla Cup series at the P Sara Oval in Colombo.   


The visitors managed to score 156/4 runs in 46 overs.


Bangladesh lose 4th wicket as Sabbir Rahman falls.  Sri Lanka have struck in 41st over and dismissed Sabbir to end Bangladesh’s recovery stand on the third wicket stand with Sabbir Rahman.


Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim were on batting, scoring 12 off 33 balls and 6 runs off 15 balls respectively.


Earlier, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal and middle order batsman Sabbir Rahman consolidated the innings with their 3rd wicket stand that added 109 runs as Bangladesh reached 131 for 2 in 37 overs during the post-lunch session of day-5 of the second and last Test of Joy Bangla Cup series at P Sara Oval, Colombo on Sunday.


Before, Bangladesh reached 38/2 at launch in pursuit of 191 runs after they bowled out Sri Lanka for 319 runs in their second innings.



Bangladesh lost two early wickets, after scoring 22 runs in 8 overs.



Facing 15 overs before the interval, the tourists lost Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes in the same over of Sri Lankan captain Herath.



Sri Lanka’s tailenders put up a commendable fight to extend the team’s lead and set Bangladesh a target of 191 runs to win.

Sri Lanka won the first Test at Galle.



Earlier, on the fifth day of second cricket test against Bangladesh at Colombo, Sri Lanka resumed their second inning at the overnight score of 268 for 8.



 They resumed the day with a lead of 139 runs with two wickets in hand.
