Man of the Match of Colombo Test Tamim Iqbal has said that the historic win at P Sara Oval is the outcome of the self-criticism that started after the end of Galle Test which Bangladesh lost badly.
While talking at the post-match presentation Tamim said, “I think this win started when we lost the match in Galle. We had a long chat with the coach, and the players stepped up.The way the bowlers bowled in the first innings was quite exceptional. That changed the whole thing. When you are chasing this kind of total, you have to be a little aggressive. Me and Sabbir were talking in the middle to look for runs. All came good except the last shot. The coach has backed us a lot. We are very lucky to have him.”
Tamim scored 82 runs off 125 balls including 7 fours and a six in the second innings when Bangladesh were set a target of 191 runs to chase on day five. It was his 22nd half-century in Tests. He added 109 runs for the third wicket with Sabbir Rahman which set the tone for the Tigers.
