Ain O Salish Kendra (ASK), a Rights body of the country, on Monday demanded a judicial enquiry over the death of militant suspect Hanif Mridha in Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) custody on Friday.
ASK made the demand after Hanif’s family on Sunday alleged that a group of people claiming to be detectives actually picked him up from Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj on February 27.
But according to the RAB statement, Hanif was detained on Friday, March 17, 2017, after the suicide bomb attack at proposed RAB headquarter premises in Ashkona and hours after he died of chest pain in RAB custody.
Expressing grave concerns over the alleged custodial death, ASK said that the allegations of detaining Hanif, taking his signature on cheque and his death in custody raised by his family members were serious ones.
“We demand a judicial probe into this matter,” said ASK in a press statement signed by its acting executive director Nur Khan..
