North South University has grandly celebrated The 47th Independence Day and The National Day through three day long ceremonious events. To commence with, The Genocide Day on 25 March was observed by lighting up candles and presenting flower wreaths at NSU Shahid Minar on the evening in the memory of the day followed by a brief discussion session.Subsequently on 26 March morning, the festivals were opened through a debating competition alongside poem reciting and art festivals were held.
Moreover, on 27 March a plant seeding event and cultural ceremony was celebrated. The plant seeding event was held in order to respect and comply with the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s announcement regarding seeding plants in respect of the Martyr’s of 1971.NSU appreciates and encourages this eco-friendly movement by their aforementioned event.
“In these ceremonial events, crests were presented to the Freedom fighters who are guardians of NSU students. There are 838 Freedom fighter’s students who are currently studying in NSU at full free scholarship. If I didn’t attend today’s event I wouldn’t be aware of NSU’s achievements in this regarding field.” – said Shahriar Kabir, President of South Asian’s people’s union against Fundementalism and Communalism.
In the discussion session of Independence Day was Chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Atiqul Islam.And the ceremony was graced by Shahriar Kabir, President of South Asian’s people’s union against Fundamentalism and Communalism. Moreover, the special guests were NSU BOT member Mr. Benajir Ahmed, recipient of Independence Day Award Bir uttom Shamsul Alam,Martyr’s Son Shamim Reza Nur -,Vice President of South Asian’s people’s union against Fundamentalism and Communalism Dr.Nujhat Chowdhury and the youngest Freedom Fighter Zahir Uddin Ahmed aka Bichhu Jalal. A thanking speech was delivered by Prof. G U Ahsan, Pro Vice Chancellor (Designated).Among others, faculty members and students from various departments were present in these events. The programme was coordinated by Dilara Afroz and Zafor Iqbal.
