CHITTAGONG: Two persons, including a traffic policeman, were killed in separate road accidents at Anwara and Sitakunda upazilas in the district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Jahir Raihan, 50, a traffic constable of Anwara Police Station, and Hridoy, 16, son of Makbul Rahman of Sitakunda upazila in the district.
Officer-in-charge (OC) Dulal Mahmud of Anwara Police Station said a speeding truck ran over Jahir while he was performing duty at Chatri Choumuhuni intersection under the upazila at around 9:30am.
OC Dulal said they seized the truck, but its driver and helper managed to flee.
At around 12:00 noon, Hridoy sustained severe injuries when a local bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw carrying him from behind on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in DAM depot area under the upazila.
