CHITTAGONG: The rivalry between Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) former Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury and incumbent Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin came to an end after an announcement of working together by Mohiuddin at an open discussion in the city on Monday.

Chittagong city Awami League (AL) organised the discussion marking the historic ‘Mujibnagar Day’ in the city’s Shaheed Minar premises on Monday.

City AL President Mohiuddin Chowdhury presided over the meeting while General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin was also present among others.

However, a tense situation was prevailing as supporters of the both leaders gathered at the venue in good numbers.

Mohiuddin, in his speech, said, “I told many things in my recent statements. I will not disclose the matters behind the statements today.”

“We are in same house. There may have competition for post and many things inside. That doesn’t mean clash or killing,” he said.

“Nasir is there. We will have demand before him and he will try to realise the demand. I assure him of all out support from my side,” said the former mayor.

“We will solve all the problems of Chittagong together,” he said. Mohiuddin also urged the newsmen not to play role in creating gap between them with write ups.

At that time, Mohiuddin called Nasir beside him and they held hands of each other. They chanted slogans raising hands together. Nasir also responded to the call positively.
