A career best century came from national opener Tamim Iqbal enabled Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited to registered a 24-run victory over Kalabagan Krira Chakra in the second round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Tuesday at BKSP ground no 4 in Savar.

Despite a good 73-run opening stand by Tamim Iqbal and Shamsur Rahman, Mohammedans kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but it was Tamim who kept his wicket intact at one end to take the team's total past 300 runs landmark before he was got out by Sanjit Saha.

The southpaw opener, who hit his career's 13th century in list A cricket, recorded his career best score of 157 runs going past his previous best record of 154 runs. Tamim smashed 18 boundaries and three over boundaries during his 125 balls stay on the crease.

Shamsur Rahman (38), Kamrul Islam Rabbi (22), Mehedi Hasan Miraz (21) and Rony Talukder (20) were the other notable scorers for Mohammedan.

He was well supported by Nabil Samad who took two wickets for 44 runs.

Chasing a massive winning target of 308 runs, Kalabagan despite their valiant efforts fell short as they were restricted at 283 for 9 from allotted 50 overs.

Zimbabwean recruit Hamilton Masakadza (68) top scored for Kalabagan and paired up to a 92-run partnership with Tushar Imran (64), after Kalabagan lost both their opener Mohammad Ashraful (46) and Jasimuddin (11) inside 15 overs.

Muktar Ali (38 n.o) and Tasamul Haque (11) were the other notable scorers for Kalabagan.

Kamrul Islam Rabbi was the pick of Mohammedan bowler as he claimed three wickets conceding 69 runs. He was well supported by Mehedi Hasan Miraz who bagged two wickets giving away 56 runs.
