Rain influenced by N’wester submerges Chittagong City

Heavy rain influenced by N’wester submerged many streets of the port city on Friday morning, leaving the normal life in disarray.

 

The low-lying areas of the city, including Muradpur, Chakbazar, Sholosohor, Agrabad and Halishohor areas, went under knee-deep to waist-deep water due to the torrential rain that started early Friday and continued till 10 am, causing immense sufferings to the city dwellers.

 

Main roads to small avenues, all have been gone under water. Even, water intrudes houses and homes in several areas.

Hundreds of vehicles were stuck on water.

 

People were seen crossing the roads by rickshaw or wading through the knee-deep water in the city.

 

According to the Potenga Met office, 32 millimeter rainfall was recorded in three hours from 6 am to 9 am.
