No militants but explosives found at Jhenidah ‘militant den’

Police has claimed that there were no militants have been found at the suspected militant den in Jhenidah but they have found huge explosives and several firearms and suicidal vests there.

The law enforcers condoned off a house at Thanthalia village in Jhenidah Sadar Upzila on Friday evening suspecting it to be a militant den.

A bomb disposal team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) left Dhaka around 8pm for Jhenidah to defuse those, CTTC's additional deputy commissioner Sanwar Hossain, also chief of the bomb disposal unit, told UNB.

"We hope we can start defusing the explosives and vests from early hours of Saturday," he said.

The CTTC unit members and the local police encircled the house around 6pm, said police super of the district Mizanur Rahman.

Additional SP Ajgar Ali Sheikh said the local administration imposed section 144 at Thanthalia village.
