A local BNP leader was hacked to death by a group of miscreants over previous enmity at Railjagannathpur village in Alamdanga upazila on Saturday morning, reports UNB.

Shawkat Ali Faraji, 57, son of late Nawaz Ali Faraji, president of ward no. 6 of Kalidaspur union parishad unit of BNP, had a longstanding dispute with the neighbours, said officer-in-charge Akram Hossain of Alamdanga Police Station.

In the latest incident of the dispute, a group of miscreants hacked Shawkat indiscriminately while he was working at his maize field around 11 am, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body around 3 pm and sent it to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
