Nine months have already elapsed since the recommendation to appoint 655 sons of freedom fighters as senior officer of Agrani Bank under the quota of freedom fighters, but they are not recruited yet, said sons of freedom fighters.

Demanding their immediate recruitment, they said that they will go on hunger strike if they do not receive appointment letters within two working days.
They came up with their demands at a human chain at Central Shaheed Minar in the city on Sunday.

They lamented the fact that though all the recruitment process has been completed, the bank authorities are dilly-dallying under the pretext of verifying certificates by the liberation war affairs ministry. Earlier, the results of Bangladesh Agricultural Bank were published and the selected candidates under the quota of freedom fighters have already joined work without the verification of certificates, they added.

Expressing anger, Zahiruddin Jewel, the son of a freedom fighter Bir Bikram Hemayet Uddin, said it will take a long time to verify certificates, as eighteen thousand letters of application have already been submitted to ministry for verification.

He said that though the ministry has given a permission to appoint them, but the bank authorities are not complying with the order.

In April 2015, Agrani Bank issued a circular for vacant posts under the quota of freedom fighters.

After the written and oral examination on August 24, 2016, 655 people were finally selected for the posts.
