2-Day Asian Theatre Summit begins in city Friday

'Asian Theatre Summit-2017' will begin at National Theatre Hall of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital on Friday.


Asian Regional Center (ARC) of International Theatre Association (ITA), Shilpakala Academy and People's Theatre Association (PTA) are jointly organising the event with the assistance of Cultural Affairs Ministry, said a press release Thursday.


The two-day programme will be started on Friday morning, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will inaugurate the summit as chief guest at 10 am, and it will be concluded on Saturday (May 6).


Shilpakala Academy Director General and ITA Asian Regional President Liaquat Ali Lucky will be in the chair of the inauguration ceremony.


International Theatre Institute (ITI) worldwide President Ramendu Majumdar, ITI Bangladesh Centre President Nasiruddin Yousuff, noted playwright Abdus Selim, cultural personality Mafidul Haque, Jahangirnagar University Professor Dr Afsar Ahmed, playwrights Debprosad Debnath and SM Mahsin and PTA acting Secretary General Krishty Hefaz will take part in the event as discussants, the release added.


The function will include seminars, folk songs, national and international dramas and child dance and drams.
