Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Nilu, chairman of a faction of National Peoples’ Party (NPP), died at a city hospital on Saturday night. He was 65.
Shawkat, who was undergoing treatment at Square Hospital, breathed his last here around 10:45 pm, UNB reports.
The NPP leader was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday after he had fallen sick seriously.Later, he had been kept under life support for the past two days as his condition deteriorated.
He left behind wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
His first namaj-e-janaza will be held Baitul Mukarram national mosque on Monday.
Shawkat will be buried at Banani Graveyard upon completion of his second namaj-e-janaza in Banani.
