A local Awami League leader was found dead in Pashchim Jahanpur area in Jafotnagar union of Fatikchhari upazila on Tuesday night, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Enam, son of Sekandar Miah, and also president of AL Abdullahpur union unit of the upazila.

Abu Yusuf Miah, officer-in-charge of Fatikchhari Police Station, said that miscreants abducted Enam on Sunday. Later, the abductors demanded ransom from his family members over phone.

Following the incident, Enam's mother Halima filed a general diary (GD) with the police station on Monday.

Locals spotted the body wrapped in a sack around 8pm on Tuesday and informed police.

Later, police recovered the body.
