Professor Dr Alimullah Miyan, the founder and the vice-chancellor of International University of Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), died at a private hospital in the city on Wednesday.
He was 75.
Dr Alimullah left behind his wife and a son as well as a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death, an official release said, reports BSS.
The first namaz-e-janaza of Dr Alimullah will be held at Dhaka University Central Jame Mosque after Zohr prayers on Thursday, while the second janaza will take place on the IUBAT campus after Asr prayers.
His qulkhwani will be held on the IUBAT campus on May 14, the release said.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid expressed deep shock at the death of the IUBAT vice-chancellor.
In a condolence message, the minister said the country has lost an eminent educationist in his death. "The vacuum that has been created in the field of education due to his death won't be fulfilled easily," Nahid said.
The education minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family..
