Primary evidence found over Banani rape case


Primary evidence was found after interrogation of Safat Ahmed and Sadman over the rape of  two Banani female students.


Joint commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Krishno Pado Rai confirmed the matter in a press briefing at DMP media centre on Friday.


They have been kept in the office of  Detective Branch (DB) of  Police of DMP’s Women Support  and Investigation Division.


Safat and Sadman were arrested from Sylhet on Thursday. A special team of police from Dhaka head office conducted drive for arresting them with the help of  Sylhet police.



After one month of the incident, the two female students filed a case against five people on May 6.


According to the case statement, Safat Ahmed and Naim Ashraf invited the two girls for birthday party on March 28.

Later they took the girls in a hotel of  ‘The rain tree’ in Banani of the capital and locked them in the room of the hotel and raped them.


They also claimed in the statement, Safat’s driver Billal recorded video of the incident.


The five accused are Safat Ahmed, Naim, Ashraf, Sadman Sakif and Safat’s driver Billal.
