When Mira Rajput had aired her views at a Women’s Day event, little did she think it would invite so much criticism.
Mira had said that she wears the label of a housewife with pride and irked many working mothers by saying, “I wouldn’t want to spend one hour a day with my child and rush off to work. Why did I have her (daughter Misha)? She is not a puppy, you know.I want to be there for her as a mother.”
In a recent interview with Bombay Times, Mira opened up about the controversy. “I was just speaking my mind, my intention was not to offend or hurt anyone. Could I have chosen my words better? Maybe. But I am not a seasoned actor and I don’t know how to be politically correct. I was speaking for a section of women who aren’t given their due,” she said.
Earlier, her husband Shahid had defended her comments by saying that Mira was talking on a personal level and that her statement wasn’t a “direct comment on anybody or any category of women.” He had said, “I think we are in a time where everybody is getting hurt about everything. So, I honestly don’t feel there is any sense in trying to keep everyone happy.”
