Bangladesh Mahila Parishad (BMP) on Sunday expressed its grave concerns over the recent rape incidents in the capital and other part of the country.
BMP in a press release stated that they were worried about continuous incidents of rape, gang-rape, sexual assault and cruelty against children across the country.
The not-for-profit organisation came up with the observations mentioning that eight women including five baby girls were raped in the capital alone within last three days and admitted at One-Stop Crisis Centers of Dhaka medical college and hospital.
It also said six incidents of rape took place in the capital and other parts of the country on Saturday alone.
The BMP sources said at least 258 women and girls were raped in the last four months across the country, of them, 67 women and girls were raped in April, 71 in March, 62 in February, 58 in January.
The rights body demanded immediate arrest of culprits and ensuring justice for the victims by giving exemplary punishment to the offenders.
