Dhaka North City Mayor Annisul Huq on Monday said the city will change in every month as the development of the city corporation area is getting visible gradually, reports BSS.
"We have been making utmost efforts for the last two years to make the city more suitable for dwelling," he told a view-exchange meeting with media personalities at Hotel Sonargaon marking the second anniversary of his assuming office.
The mayor highlighted different development activities taken in the city corporation area last two years and sought cooperation from all to continue the efforts.
"Many call Dhaka is an unsuitable city for dwelling. But it's not true.Dhaka is a deferent city. Once its position was very lower in terms of living standard but the situation has changed slightly," Annisul said.
The mayor said around 450 illegal houses, 2,767 temporary establishments have been evicted and 3,30,000 square feet road was retrieved while around 1.75 lakh illegal banners and festoons have been removed.
The mayor said Taka 25 crore was kept in the budgetary allocation for spearheading an anti-mosquito campaign.
Huq said the kitchen market will be moved from Karwanbazar. A library was set up at Rajabazar and another one will be built in Shah Ali area of Mirpur, he added.
