Priyanka Chopra's Quantico renewed for season 3 despite low ratings

Actress Priyanka Chopra's American television show Quantico has been renewed for the third season. The 34-year-old actress announced on Twitter: "So excited about the season 3 pick up for #Quantico congrats to everyone who made it happen! #AlexParrish will be back soon (sic)."

The show's renewal has surprised many because of the show's dwindling ratings and viewership.

Quantico's rating has gone down by 45 per cent from season 1 to season 2 and its viewership dropped by 36 per cent, according to a report in Variety magazine. Quantico creator and executive producer Josh Safran will not return for the third season but will join the team as a consultant. ABC Studios are now looking for a new showrunner, reports Variety.

Meanwhile, the last episode of Quantico season 2 also aired on Monday evening in USA. Priyanka, who generally live tweets when a new episode of Quantico is aired, wrote: "Andddd... that's a wrap on #Quanticoseason2 Thank you, our lovely audience for all the love & support always! See you on the other side! (sic)"

Priyanka Chopra became a household name in the West after playing the role of Alex Parrish, an FBI rookie who graduates to CIA.

Meanwhile Priyanka is currently on Baywatch promotion duty in Miami. She has been posting pictures from her Miami trip for Baywatch. The Seth Gordon-directed film releases on May 25 in USA and June 2 in India. Priyanka rocked the film's Miami premiere in a blue sequined Halston dress.
