The half-day hartal, enforced by the Khulna district unit BNP protesting killing of BNP leader Alauddin Mithu, is observed peacefully in the district on Saturday, reports UNB.
Motorised vehicles stayed off the roads while shops remained closed.
However, no long-route buses left the district town. No procession or picketing was seen in support of the hartal till the filling of this report around 8 am.
The shutdown that began at 6.00 am and ended at 12.00 pm.
Earlier, on Friday, the district unit BNP enforced a half-day hartal in the district for today protesting the killing of its leader.
It also announced a 4-day protest programme including—hoisting of black flags atop BNP offices in the district and holding protest meetings in 10 districts of Khulna division.
