Bangladesh has conducted a study on 50 new labour markets, including the ones in 20 new countries, aiming to boost the manpower export during the coming days.
Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Islam said this while replying to a tabled written question from M Sirajul Islam Molla (Narsingdi-3) in Parliament on Monday.
He also said an analysis has been done to figure out the trend in the Middle East markets and identify the diversified trend for female manpower.
Based on these reports, the minister said, the government will take steps to employ Bangladeshi manpower in the identified sectors through necessary training.
“In this regard, one qualified and experienced research organisation has been appointed,” he told the House.
Nurul Islam said Bangladesh is now sending skilled band semi-skilled manpower to 162 countries.
Responding to another question from M Nurul Islam Omar (Bogra-6), the minister said Bangladesh sent 757,731 jobseekers in 2016, 555,881 in 2015, 425,684 in 2014 and 409,253 in 2013 to the countries.
The number of exporting manpower in 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007 are 607,798, 568,062, 390,702, 475,278, 875,066 and 832,609 respectively.
Responding to Akhtar Jahan (Woman Seat-5), he said Bangladesh is currently sending women workers to 70 countries. As of April, 2017, Bangladesh sent 617,386 female workers.
