A case has been lodged against eight persons, including officer-in-charge (OC) of Badda Police Station, on charges of extortion.

Nurunnahar Nasima Begum filed the case with Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka accusing eight persons, including four policemen.

After taking the case into cognizance, Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Islam asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to probe into the matter.

The accused in the case are: OC of Badda Police Station MA Jalil, sub inspector Shahid, assistant sub inspectors Din Islam and M Abdur Rahim, Jahanra Rashid Rupa, step daughter of the complainant, Rokeya Rashid, Ataur Rahman Kaiser and Shukur Ali.

In the case statement, the complainant alleged that the OC of Badda Police Station went to her (Nurunnahar's) apartment yesterday and asked her son to fix the electricity problem at Rupa's apartment. They beat her son as he denied fixing the problem, the case alleged.
