Road crash kills bank officer in Panchagarh

A bank official was killed in a road accident at Lichutola point on the Panchagarh-Bangabandhu highway in Panchagarh district town on Friday, police sources said. 

The deceased was identified as Second Officer of Panchagarh Branch of Agrani Bank Limited (ABL) Asadur Rahman Sarker, 55, hailing from Dokropara area in the sub-Himalayan district town. 

The accident occurred when a Banglabandha bound truck from Panchagarh hit the banker from behind while he was returning home riding his motorcycle wearing a helmet on his head at 11 am Friday. 

"Local people immediately rescued the critically injured banker, but he succumbed to his injuries on way to Panchagarh Modernised Sadar Hospital," said Officer-in-Charge of Panchagarh Sadar Thana Rabiul Hasan Sarker. 

Police could not arrest driver and helper of the killer truck as they escaped the scene soon after the accident. Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Amal Krishna Mandal, Manager of Panchagarh Branch of ABL Amiyo Sarker and high officials visited the spot, police said.
