BNP bound to take part in next polls abiding by constitution: Hanif

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif on Saturday said BNP will have to take part in the next general election abiding by the constitution.

The Awami League leader came up with this observation while talking with the reporters at Upazila Komlapur High School ground in Kushtia, BSS reports.

"The next election will be held under the Election Commission as per the constitution and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will remain as the head of government during the polls," Hanif told.

AL District Unit President Sadar Uddin Khan, General Secretary Azgor Ali and Jubo League district unit convener Rabiul Islam, among others, were present.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had urged all parties to take part in the 10th parliamentary election. Even, she called BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to take part in the election...

but they didn't," he said.

Hanif said BNP will make another mistake if the party does not take part in the next election.

"I think BNP would not repeat the same mistake that they made in 10th parliamentary election," he added.
