BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's motorcade has been attacked in Chittagong while he was on his way to Rangamati to meet local people affected by landslides.
Following the attack amid heavy rain, BNP activists took shelter to a nearby mosque for some time.
BNP standing committee member Amir Khashru Mahmud and among other leaders were present with Fakhrul.
"As soon as we reached Rangunia's Ichhakhali, men armed with iron rods and sharp weapons attacked our motorcade. They have completely damaged our cars," said Amir Khosru, a member of BNP's policymaking National Standing Committee.
BNP leaders of the motorcade said they were going to Rangamati from Kaptai.Their motorcade was attacked at Isakhali area of Rangunia.
Mirza Fakhrul said at least 20 to 25 miscreants attacked the motorcade with weapons and sticks.
Fakhrul said “ The glass of my vehicle was broken. My some leaders were injured in the attack.”
